PAYS VISIT TO ASHBURTON. Per Prijss Association. ASHBURTON, June 10. General Sir William Birdwood was welcomed by the Mayor (Mr. Galbraith) Colonel Studholme and Major Orr, and n.otox’ed to the trotting meeting, where he witnessed a race.. Later, a civic reception was held, and in the town tho General received an enthusiastic greeting from a large crowd. At the visitor’s request a whole holiday was grant ed to the school children to-morrow. After luncheon General Birdwood went south by the second express.
