HOSPITAL BOARD LEVIES.
CONFERENCE OF LOCAL BODIES
A conference of representatives of local bodies in Taranaki met members ef the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board this morning to the question of the proposed increase of the district hospital and charitable aid rate.
The chair was occupied by Mr. M. Fraser, chairman of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. The chairman dealt at length with tiro reason which had compelled the board to raise the levy, and expressed his regret at tiro hoard having had to come to such a decision, hut under the circumstances it was inevitable._ Air. Connott moved “That this conference of representatives of local bnclu's in the Taranaki Hospital Board district strongly urges the ValuerGeneral to have the land comprised in the different hospital hoard districts re-vaiued at one and the same time, failing which that the re-valuation of any one local body should not bo used for hospital levy purposes until the remaining properties in that district have been re-valued. Seconded by Air. Brnoker and carried, A report of the proceedings will appear in to-morrow’s issue.
