Captain Began, of the steamer Wliangapi> on arrival at Xovrcastlc, stated he was asked lor assistance by the ilavre, but as he himself was short of coal owing to a delayed passage caused hv heavy weather, ho could not render her any help. The master of the steamer Havre has wirelessed that the vessel is at its Inst gasp, and is incapable ol raising s'u.ieieut steam to keep sea way. Everything burnable is being utilised, including the ship's furniture. Hie Anstraliiul, hound 'from London to Melbourne, is in communication with the Havre, and expects to reach the latter on I'rill ay. MORE HOPEFUL REPORTS. (Received June 9, 1.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, June 9, A wireless from the Havre picked up at nocn yesterday stated that she was then somewhere abreast of Smoky Cape, drifting towards Sydney. A message late, at night indicated that she was steadily drifting. Hie Champion was not then in touch by wireless. The weather was favourable.
