The Foreign Minister, in a statement regarding the renewal of the AngloJapanese Alliance, declared than# the continued treatment of China and its territorial entity can bo •no longer tolerated, but must be regarded as unfriendly. He pointed out that China had dispatched a memorandum to Britain, showing how China had suffered during the war period through the operation of the alliance. Ho also contended that China became a member of the League of Nations by ratifying the Austrian Treaty, and consequently no contract could be completed between other members of the league regarding affairs in China without China’s consent.— Reuter Service. LONDON, June 7. The British Chambers of Commerce in China have petitioned the BritishGovernment urging that the AngloJapanese Alliance should only bo renewed on the following conditions: — The reversion of Manchuria to China. The restoration of the Tsingtao and Shantung railways. A clear interpretation of such phrases as “equal opportunity,” "territorial rights.” and "special interests.”— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
