j VOGELTOWN CLUB. | ANNUAL MEETING. i The annual meeting of the Vogeltown I Bowling OJu!> was hold on Saturday j night, Mr. H. Benton presiding over a i good attendance of members. j ANNUAL REPORT. | Tho annual report stated that the i past season had been a highly satisfactory one from a playing point ot 1 view, a marked improvement being manifested in the individual play of tho : monikers. The green had been in xplcnj did condition through tho .season. Tho club had participated in the Banner and Giimour Cup competitions, and whilst j it could not claim to have been very ! successful in its matches with other I clubs, it hud nevertheless made a good showing under the circumstances, in j which it was placed owing to its small I membership. It was hoped that next I season would seo a still further improveI meat in the standard of play of mem- | bers. Tho club was most fortunate in having presented to it lor competition ! a set of silver bowls, known as tne Doh- | ton Bowls, and donated by Air. C. Dobso i, and two handsome gold medals ! by Mr. W. Hook I'.:; in for a pairs com--1 petition. The* grateful thanks of the i club were extended to the donors. Tno 1 competitions had been productive ot ! fiomc very closely contested glares and i had aroused a great deal of interest and 1 friendly rivalry. The Pioneer Chal- ! lengc Cup was won by Mr. Jas. David- ! son, Air. Geo. Tipping, being runner-up j after a very close contest. Tho finances of the club were assisted considerably as a result of these competitions. The. ! thanks of the outgoing officers were ex- ! tended to members generally for their i loyal and hearty co-operation and the 1 hope was expressed that next season | would see a substantial increase in mem--1 borship, and that as a result the club i would bo placed on a sound footing financially. The balance shoot showed that thanks to the generosity of several members of the club who hud made ca-ith donations and a handsome donation of £5 from I a donor who desired to remain anonymous, the receipts were just sufficient to meet outgoings. During tho discussion which ensued general satisfaction was expressed at i the progress that had been made by tho club, but the point was stressed thatif that success which all desired was to bo achieved, ways and moans must bo found to increase the icveriue. The hope was therefore expressed that many residents in the district who had not up to the present enrolled as members would do so. Tho report and balance sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Officers were elected as follows for the ensuing year;—President, Mr. F. W. Okey; vice-president, Mr. V. Griffiths; committee, Messrs. AV. Healy, (J. Dobson, C. Robertson, A. T. Moore and A. C. Evans; green wardens, Messrs, Dobson, Evans and Healy , selector. Mr. Healy, delegate to Bowling Centre, Air. A. T. Moore; secretary and treasurer, Air. Evans, auditor. Air. AV. P. Ckey. GENERAL. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the donor of £5. who wished to remain anonymous.. Appreciative reference was made to this most generous assistance to tho club’s funds. A similar coihplimout was paid to Airs. Laurence for her generous donation of £1 and to all others who had during the year assisted to increase the revenue; who had donated trophies, or in any way assisted the club. . Tho hope was expressed that it would be possible to improve tho appointments of the green during tho coming season and £ll 11s.was promised in the loom as the nucleus of a fund for this purpose. A committee consisting of Ivlessrs. Griffiths, Browne, Laurence and Healy was appointed to go into tho question and report at a further meeting. The chairman formally presented to Air. Davidson the Pioneer Cup, which lie had gained as winner of the singles championship. Mr. Davidson was heartily congratulated upon his success and Mr. Tippins, the runnor-iro, was also complimented on his meritorious performance. A vote of thanks was accorded to Air. A. T. Moore, the retiring secretary, appreciative reference being made to his valued services on behalf of the club. Thanks were also accorded other retiring officers The subscription for the ensuing year was fixed at- £2- 10a, reducible to £2 2s if paid before December 31.
