From the Pahintua County Council forwarding the following resolutions passed by that council; “That the attention of the Prime Minister bo drawn to the unsatisfactory wording of ‘The Housing Act, 1919,’ part 5 section 51 (f) in that it does not make provision for the purchase of landjto erect dwellings or of buildings already erected, and that he be asked to have the Act amended and altered in that direction.” —Received. From the Taranaki County Council asking the board to appoint two delegates to attend a conference to bo held at Hew Plymouth on June 9 to discuss the question of contributions paid by local authorities within the Taranaki hospital district. The chairman and Mr. Todd were appointed delegates. ' DEPUTATION. Messrs. Bishop and Potroz Brothers waited on the board and drew attention to a bad wash-out which had occurred at a bridge on the Derby Road pointing out that in the event of a heavy fresh in the stream there was a groat probability of the structure being washed away. The chairman suggested than the deputation arrange to meet the engineer on tho site and assist with their labour to effect repairs. Tho suggestion was agreed to. GENERAL. The engineer was instructed to obtain tho petition for the Bristol Road deviation from the borough solicitor to enable tho work to he proceeded with. GOVERNMENT GRANTS. The chairman reported that applications had been made to tho Government for tile following grants: Mountain (Main) Road, forming and metalling, £IOOO (£ for £), proposing to spend £SOOO in metalling and tar macadam ; Everett Road, forming and metalling £2OO (£ for £ basis); Upper Egmont Read (metalling), £500; Makara Rond Bridge ,£2OO (£ for £); Au■tawa Road, forming and metalling, £IOOO (£ for £); Richmond Road (metalling), £4OO (£ for £1 10s); Bristol Road, reforming and metalling, £2OO Mangaone Road (regrading and metal-' ling), £2OO (£ for £);■ Durham Road (metalling), £3OO (£ for Norfolk Road (metalling). £3OO (£ for £); Surrey Road (metalling), £3OO (£ for £); Dudley Road (metalling), £3OO (£ for £); Windsor Road (metalling), £2OO (£ Jor £); York Road (metalling) £SOO (£ for £).
