Flour.—Quiet and steady. Oats.—Firm. Now La Plata spot 555. Peas and .Beans.—Quiet and unchanged. Australian barley is in good demand. The Food Ministry has instructed millers to increase the extraction ot flour from Australian wheat to 80 percent. Bradford wool is quiet non amg the opening of the London safes on Monday. Sugar.—Unchanged. The Peel River Company’s profit Is £74,704. The comparty carried forward £38,704. The directors proposed new articles of association empowering them to extend operations to any State in Australia, New Zealand, or South America. (Received Jan. 12, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 9. Government stocks ot copper are 10,005 tons, spelter 20,072 tons, aluminium 7084 tons, lead 54,975 tons, nickel 1650 tons, antimony 2775 tons. Talisman shares.—Buyers 7s 6d, sellers 12s 6d. P. and 0. shares, £6lO and £630. It is announced that Guest, Keen, ind Nettlefolds, Ltd., are acquiring a controlling interest in John Lysaght, Ltd.

LONDON, Jan. 8. Short loans are quoted at 4| per cent., nils 5 9-16 per cent. Foreign exchange rates: On Pans 41,95, Stockholm 17.68, Christiania 18.90, Calcutta 28d, Montreal 406 cents, New York S7OJ cents. According to a Treasury statement the currency notes issued to date amount to 1,513,411,600, whereof 347,995,732 are outstanding. P. and O. shares £6OO and £620. Consols £sl 7s 6d. War loans £B6 and £Bll7s 6d.
