The Eev. J. B. Brocklehurst, vicar of St. Matthew’s, Hastings, has resigned his charge owing to ill-health. He was appointed in 1910.—Press Telegram. The Hon. J. G. Coates, PostmasterGeneral, has notified Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., that ho hopes to visit New Plymouth shortly. Commandant and Mrs. Rowlands have received their orders from Commissioner Holder to farewell at New Plymouth on Sunday 2otn. Up to the present they do not know where their next appointment will be. Mrs. MHahey, one of the pioneer settlers of New Plymouth, died at Oakura on Sunday, at tho age of 84 years. The deceased lady, whoso maiden name was Roberts, came out with her parents in the Amelia Thompson, arriving here on September, 1841, and has resided hero ever since.. She leaves two daughters—Mrs, John West,_ of Oakura, .and Mrs. It. H. Sole, of New Plymouth—and one son; Mr. G. H. M-Gahcy, of Now Plymouth, to mourn their loss.

At the meeting of the Moa Hoad Board on Saturday the chairman announced that the secretary (Mr. R. Buckley) had intimated that his dairy company work and the clerkship of the new Inglewood County would be too heavy for one man to carry on, and he would not, therefore, be available as clerk when the county came into operation. Much regret was expressed at the impending loss of Mr. Buckley’s services. A committee was appointed to deal with the filling of the vacancy. The Rev, H. A. Favell has forwarded to the Bishop of Auckland his resignation of tho charge of Te Henui and Bell Block, to take effect on March 31 next. Mr. Favell has given a number of years to Church of England ministerial work in Taranaki. From 1905 to 1908 he was hack-block missioned being for ten months during that time in charge of Inglewood, and was afterwards vicar of Stratford, resigning that charge in 19X0 to become domestic chaplain to the then Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Neligan). Mr. Favell' returned to Taranaki in 1914 to take charge of tho Te Henui and Bell Block portion of St. Mary’s parish. < In 1915 the district was formed into a separate parochial district, and Mr. Favell was inducted as tho first vicar in December of that- year by tho Bishop of Auckland.
