TROTTING.

TROTTING APPEALS. Bor Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 10. At a meeting of the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association appeals lodged by A. Smith, owner of King Capitalist, and 11. Barraclough against tno disqualification of a horse by the Auckland Trotting Club, on tho ground that he had been trained by an unlicensed trainer were allowed. Registration acts wore granted to tho Hawke’s Bay and Cambridge Trotting Clubs.

Mr. R. A. Armstrong, chairman of the Wellington Trotting Club, waited on the board to ask for advice in regard to the club’s position, in view of the possibility of a meeting between Cathedral Chimes and Author Dillon. It had been suggested that they should meet in a match, but tho position had since altered and tho proposal now was that they should both make an attempt on the. record for tho club’s purse and that, instead of having a galloping pace-maker, one horse should pace the other. It was decided to point out to the club that there could bo nothing in the nature of a match, which was included in tho definition of a race, and that both the rules of the Trotting and the Gaming Act limited tho number of ra r cs in any one day programme to eight.
