On November 18 a jury, for the second time, failed to agree on a verdict in tho case against James Reynolds Haync and Norman Neylon on a charge of using an instrument for illegal purposes, and on the application of the Crown, Judge Sim made an order for a third trial of the accused at tho next criminal sittings in February. Last week Die Crown Prosecutor filed a summons for a change of venue of tho trial to Wellington, and to-day Air. Jusitce Sim made an order for the trial to take place at the next criminal sittings at Wellington. ASSAULT ON AN INSPECTOR. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 9. At tho Alagistrato’s Court a returned soldier named Huia Gilbert Dailey, was fined £5, in default one month’s ini- . prisonment, for assaulting tho city inspector during the disturbance at Air. j Aiassey’s meeting last week.
