CARNIVAL WEEK IN MARCH. A meeting of ladies willing to help with tho library carnival week, which is to bo hour m tho .first week in .March, was held nt tho library on Monday. There were about 20 ladies present and the Mayoress, Mrs. J. Clarke, presided. It was arranged that the ladies should provide afternoon tea on Thursday at the Park, and also take charge of the moving mart on Saturday, leaving the arr-ngements for the other entertainments m the hands of tho librarian (Mr. J. Buillio) and a committee of men to be formed later. A general committee of ladies was formed as follows; —Mesdames J. Clarke, Moycs, Dutf, White v J3lacklcy, Martin, Skinner, Newman j Messenger, R. Cock, Denny-Brown, Neal, Collins, W. Ambury, Eberlct; Misses Hempton, Pratt and Humphries. This general committee has not yet been divided up and given different "duties, and it is expected that when tho small committees are formed each with its different objective in view, they will considerably add to their numbers, as many ladies have signified their willingness to help in different ways.

Tho carnival in Rukckura Park on Thursday, March 4, is to be a great event, and it is hoped that people from tho surrounding countryside will be present to enjoy tho gaiety. Mr. Baillio has many novel ideas for tho._ amusement of those present, and Tie is working hard to get them carried out. It is proposed to ha ve a battle of flowers Tn tho afternoon, and a procession and Feast of Lanterns in the evening. Everyone is to ho asked to come in fancy dress in tho evening and Mr. Rniliie is going to have an outdoor play in the. Park, if possible, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
