LABOUR DAY SPORTS BALANCESHEET.

At tlie monthly meeting of the Taranaki Workers-' Council ‘held on Friday evening the balance-sheet of the Labour Day sports committee was submitted for adoption. , The result of the efforts on Labour Day, which was practically tbo first time any attempt had been made to obtain funds, was very gratifying to those concerned,'and was the moans of placing the council on a sound financial footing.* It is pleasing to note that the biggest item in the receipts (£152 its), was the result of a- systematic canvass of tbo business people, who responded generously to the appeal of the canvassers.

Social: Door receipts £26, sale of tickets £l2 9s, soft-drink stall £6 9s 7d, siito of cakes 9s; total £4lO 13s 6d. Total expenditure. £174 os 2d. Balance in hand £236 8s 4d. The balance-sheet was unanimously adopted. Mr. V. Duff has audited and signed the balance-sheet, which is open for inspection to anyone wishing to go into details.
