China has sent Japan a Note demanding an indemnity for the Chinese killed by Japanese in the recent disturbances at Foochow, also the removal of the Japanese Consul at Foo-chow.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. The Peking correspondent of tho New, York Sun states that General Maliying, ■commander of the Chinese army in Shantung, in a speech, said tho refusal to sign the Peace Treaty hurts China, and the boycott of Japanese goods ruins Japan. China and Japan are adjacent countries, and if they united they would be sufficiently powerful to overthrow the Western Powers.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
