snem ooe own correspondent. Dec. 2. —An effort is being made to :orm a. branch of tho Returned Soldiers’ Association in Whangamomona. It is ,clt that tire distance to Stratford is oo great to enable the AA’hangamomona .nembora to take any live part in the ,vork of the association, many of the oldiers in this district belonging to tho Stratford branch. Mr. R. iSramald convened a meeting for last Saturday veuing, but the gathering, although encouraging, was smaller than was antii ipatod, shearing operations keeping Many away. Mr. Rramald presided at tho mooting, and it was agreed to form a sub-branch, with Stratford as centre, i util such time as the 40 necessary new I ;embers are forthcoming. Air. Bramnld was appointed hon. provisional secretary i > organise the district. Tho members j resent were unanimously agreed that I erioflie meetings iu AVhangamomona i ould go far towards strengthening and looping alive the spirit of comradeship among tho local members. Rainfall and weather observations for Pie month of November are given as follows; An cxeoxitioiially dry and coin November. On no day was rainfall heavy, the maximum fall being 0.64 in. cu the 2nd. There, were. 17 days with rain: total fall, 4.03 in. Two frosts were fegistered, viz., sth and 22nd; the latter was severe for November, and did emsidcrablc damage to potatoes. Total fall to date (November), 46.31 in. ; cori ‘spending period last year, 39.8 in.
