The Palmer prize essay competition, conducted by the Wellington branch of the Navy League, resulted: Senior (subject, “Sea Power in the Great War”).—Boys: Albert Edward King (Waitaki Boys’ High School). Girls: Mavis Falconer (Sacred Heart Girls’ High School, Christchurch). _ Junior (suoject, “The Battle of Jutland”). — Boys: Duncan M'Gregor (Maori Hill School, Dunedin). Girls: Doreeii Wills (Richmond School, Nelson). Most of the secondary schools of the Dominion competed, and a large number of primary schools, 250 essays being received.
