Fitzherbert, official Labourite, spoke at Hawera last evening to a large audience. He severely criticised the Liberal leader and policy, and outlined Labour’s platform as published by the party. He was given a fair hearing, but at question time was subjected to much hostility regarding his connection with Messrs. Holland and Semple, who questioners persisted in stating were disloyal. Mr. Fitzherhert, who served in the South African war and,a year in the recent' war, declared that !he would only support Semple if he proved himself loyal. A returned soldier ento move a motion of noconfidence, but there was so much noise that he could not be heard.
