COULDN’T LEARN. The negro boy was up for the fifth time on charges of chicken stealing. This time tho magistrate decided to appeal to the boy’s father. “Now, sec here, Abe,” said he to the old darky, “this boy of yours has been up in tho court so many times for stealing chickens that I’m tired of seeing him hero!” “Ah don’t blame you sah,” returned the father; “Ah’s tired ob seein’ ’im hyah, too!” “Then why don’t you teach him how to act? Show him the right way, and he won’t be coming, here!’ “Ah has showed ’im de right way, sah,” declared tho old man earnestly; “Ah has snttenly showed ’im de right way, but he f&mehow keeps gittin’ caught cornin’ away wid dose chickens 1’ ’
