GENERAL MONASH.
ON THE JULY OFFENSIVE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright, (Received Dec. 4, 10.15 a.m.)
LONDON, Nov. 30. General Monash, in the Sunday Times, describes the Australian victory at Hamel in July 1918 as the first of-, fensive, operation by any of the Allies since the autumn of 1917, and says that it marked the termination of the purely defensive attitude on the British front. It excited examination in many quarters into the possibilities of offensive action on similar lines, and changed the British attitude of mind. This change bore a rich harvest a few weeks later.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
