In tho course of a report the committee congratulated Mi, J. Laiug and the life-saving team in having retained the Tabor Shield. _lt was suggested that a' memorial should he erected to the late Mr. C. F. Turner who lost his life in Franco. lie was ono of the pioneers of the society and one of tho hardest workers that the society had had. The mooting resolved tlmt the matter of the memorial, should be left in tho hands of the committee to deal with. Tho opening day of the season will ho next month at a date to bo fixed. At. five o’clock last night the agent for the Shaw-Savill Line at New Plymouth rang up Borthwiok and Sons Btd., AVaitara, to inform them that everything was ready at this end, and tho vessel would proceed according to schedule. He was then informed that the tug had been sent out of the AVaitara River, and it had been found that the bar had silted up and was unfit for lightering purposes.
