Lady Astor, interviewed after her election victory, said that a new’ spirit of citizenship was struggling to the surface. That spirit was necessary tor reconstruction. War profiteers and Bolsheviks, if they had their way, would make the country not a home tor heroes, but a den of thieves. MR. ASQUITH’S CRITICISM. LONDON Nov. 28. Mr. H. H. Asquith, speaking at Bir--1 mingham, criticised the Coalition Government for allowing binn Lein to become the dominant factor in Irish national life. He said, that the AntiDumping Bill was unpopular. Even tariff reformers regarded it as pernicious. Mr. Asquith described the British as the arch-dumpers of the world, and added that if wo penalised dumpers we would suffer most.
