LONDON MARKETS. The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated November 8, from the High Commissioner- for New Zealand, London; “Meat.—No change in but on account of largo quantities here and also on the way from it is expected that prices of imported mutton will be reduced by 2d per lb. next week. “Butter.—lt is reported the Government has purchased 80,000 casks Danish, to he shipped during the next four months. It is understood that prices c.i.f. are £l6 16s per cwt.., against £l4 2s previously. “Hemp.—Manila; market firm. Spot demand is good. ‘J’ grade Octoher-De-cember shipment, Hvi; January-March shipment, £49 15s. Output from January 1 to September 30 was 802..hales, against 1,028,000 last year. Stocks 1 of Manila are 435,000, as against 203,000 due to shortage of freight. Commencing December shipment, the rate of freight for hemp from Pliillipines to Great Britain will he increased from £l2 10s to £ls 2s 6d per ton. New Zealand; Market quiet,. biii firm. Hendry and Hay (E. P. Webster, local agent) report the following Stock Exchange quotations and sales : Waihi, 54s 6cL and 53s 6d; Junction, 14s 2d and 14s; Talisman, 11s 2d and 11s; National Bank, £6 9s (buyer); Bank of New Zealand, £ls and £li 15s; New Zealand Insurance, 32s 6d and 31s 9d; South British Insurance, £9 and £8 15s; Taupiri Coal, 18s and 17s; Northern Steam, 17s (buyer); Auckland Trams, 20s 3d and 19s 3d; Auckland Trams, preference, 17s 6d (buyer-); Wilson’s Cement, 16s lid and 15s 9d. The first wool valuation for the season took place at Waitara on Tuesday, There was a better offering than usual for this time of the year, and the wool opened up splendidly, being bright and well grown. If this is any indication at all it goes to show that sheep have done much better than was the case during the Two previous winters. The same schedule of prices applies to this season’s valuations as has applied to the past three.
