TROOPS PATROLLING TOWN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. NEW YORK, August 1. With more than 3000 troops, which are mow patrolling Chicago, and a like- number held in reserve, order is being gradually restored. Nevertheless, disorders, which resulted in 32 deaths and 500 wounded, still smoulder. To-day one negro was killed and six seriously injured, y Thirty-seven fires were reported during the day, all of which occurred in negroes’ homes. Although tho riots are subsiding, bands of white rioters are attacking negroes wherever they arc found.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
