GAME AT BAHOTU. The match at Bahotu on Saturday, in which Clifton defeated Bahotu fiy the narrow margin of 3 points to ml after putting up 128 points against them in the first-round match, was played in favourable weather in the first spell, but heavy showers at half time mado the going heavy and the ball greasy for the rest of the game. Clifton put a strong team in the field, and the Bahotu team was the best that had taken the field for the club this season, the back division being greatly strengthened by tho inclusion of F. Bakor, Rahul Marc, Hohai and H. Ngaia, ail of whom played splendid football. Tho game was evenly contested throughout. The Bahotu forwards quite excelled themselves, and were, if anything, superior to the opposing pack. Tho visit, mg backs showed bolter combination than those opposite them. Quito a number of spectators were present, and tho match was easily the best witnessed at Bahotu this season. In the opening stages of tho game Clifton had to force twice, and then commenced to open up the game, but had their efforts well checkoff by splendid tackling. For a time the Bahotu full-back was kept anxious, and then A. Kasper headed a forward rush over tho Clifton line and had hard luck in not scoring. Up and down play followed, and then the BaKotu forwards dominated the game for the remainder of tho spell. In the second spell the game was evenly contested until the closing stages, when Clifton had the advantage. Near tho call of time, Betts, a Clifton forward, crossed the line and scored, but George was not successful with the kick. A feature of the game was splendid linekicking by Goodwin and George for Clifton. All the Bahotu forwards played well, and the deadly tackling of Morgan, Glontworth, Kasper, and Grahamo was particularly noticeable. Mr. V. 0. West was referee. APPOINTMENTS FOR THE WEEK.
