VIEWS OF CHRISTCHURCH ASSOCIATION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August I. At a meet big of the Christchurch School Committee Association the iollowiug resolution was carried; "ihat in view of file alien'd conditions of the traffic generally, the committee recommends the Education Department to introduce a system in the syllabus for teaching children the elementary rules governing saioly m tne use of the streets and footpaths/’ Tho following remits were adopted for tho forthcoming conference of School Committees’ Associations at M cllicgton: That the Government he nskea to do all in its power to facilitate the holding of open-air classes in connection with- schools; that with a view to promoting the general efficiency oi primary education in the Dominion the Government lie urged to increase the annual education grant fq at least £3,000,000; that- ito concessions or subsidies be granted ui any private schools; that the conference strongly protests against anv system of centralisation or other alteration of the Education Act. whereby the present functions of school committees will he curtailed; that a federation of School Committees’ Associations be formed, to be calk'd the Federated School Committees’ Associations of New Jsealand.
