The Kins has made Marshal Foch a British Feld-Marslial. Mrs. Dabh, who lias been ill for some time, is now making satisfactory progress. Mr. T. IV. Collins. Molesworth Sheet, has received advice that his son, Private N. K. Collins, who sailed with the -10th Reinforcements, is retaining by troopship Cordoba, due in AVcllington on-fir about August 30. Mr. A. T. Cole, of Devon Street East, has received word that his brother. Private S. 11. Colo, is returning by tho Alhonlc, due in Wellington August 2(1. He brings back with him an English wife. Mr. W. R. M'Kcan. S.M., who arrived at New Piyiflouth on Thursday as relieving magistrate, was raised to the magistracy in June. He was admitted to the, BAr at Christchurch in 1901 and for the past 12 years has been practising at Clutha, Central Otago. Ho is expected to remain at Now Plymouth for about one month.
