from oub own cobeekpondbnt. June 14.—A cricketers’ ball was held ia the Midhirst Town Hall on Wednesday night the 11th inst., and was well attended. Excellent 1 music was supplied by Miss R. Andresen, and Mr. Carter performed, the -duties of M.C. The,Denbigh card players journeyed to Stratford on Wednesday night, and played a match with the Stratford players, which resulted in a win fox* Stratford. , The Radnor Roadites held their fortnightly card party with dance afterwards last Friday nigiit, and a merry and enjoyable time was spent by all. The next” of these functions is to take the form of a welcome home to C; Vickers. , Our dance is not being held this week on account of the absence ,of some of our friends 4ind the sickness of others. Miw. Hall has gone for a trip to Kaponga; we hope she will have a, good time. - A number of fi iends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carooll on Tu.es. day night the 10th, inst., the occasion being the anniversary of the birthday of their eldest sop. The party was a surprise one as far as tho family was concerned, the visitors (some from Midhirst) arriving in a body. However, a very merry evening was spent, with dancing, cards, games, songs, etc., which were carried on with great gusto till about 2.30 next morning, when the singing of ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’ brought a very pleasant evening to a close with hopes for more of the same land of evenings in the future. As a generous supply of eatables had been contributed by the ‘Surprise Springers’ the inner rnn-n was also well attended to. * Our boys travelled to Stratford on Thursday ‘ afternoon and met the Eltham footballers on the football ground in Stratford, and a very spirited game was played, the result of which was a win for the Elltham playersj being 13 to nil. Mr. and Miss Pederson are leaving this district and intend to travel for some time. Mr. Green has taken possession of Mr. Pedersen’s farm. The Stratford crib players are coming up to the Denbigh Hoad next Friday night to play a match against the local team.
