TRAMWAY REGULATIONS.

CONFERENCE OF AUTHORITIES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June o. A conference- of representatives of most of the authorities controlling the tramways systems in New Zealand was held in Wellington to consider the regulations which tho Minister for Public Works proposes shall be put into operation in the course of a few months. These regulations were drafted before the outbreak of war, and their operation was suspended when hostilities broke out. They vitally affect every system of electric tramways in the Dominion in respect to load limitation and traffic work generally. Tho conference was held in camera today. The secretary of the Tramway Union requested the Minister not to take any steps till he heard the representations of the union. Sir William Fraser subsequently stated that representatives of the local bodies controlling the tramways had made certain suggestions to him in regard to the new regulations. He promised to give consideration to their remarks, but could express no opinion until he had carefully considered the whole subject and heard from the several tramway unions their views thereon.
