LIFE-SAVING CLUB.

PRESENTATION OF CUP AND .MEDALS.

On AVcduesday afternoon Messrs. D. J. Hughes (president) and S. G. Smith, M.P., of the North Taranaki Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society, attended the New Plymouth Girls' High School and presented the cup won by the school in the senior competition, and also presented Misses AI. Sladden and AI. Smart, the winning team, with medals and elementary and proficiency certificates, whilst Aliss Connie Alnskcr received a teacher's certificate and medal as instructor to tho girls. Miss AI. Thompson also received an elementary and proficiency certificate. Appropriate addresses wore delivered by Mr. Hughes and Afr. Smith, who congratulated the girls on their success. Mr. Smith suggesting that a swimming pool for tho school would he a great advantage. At the Central School, Air. Hughes presented the Junior Cup and also medals to E. Amor and R. Gibson, the successful boys, who also secured elementary and proficiency certificates. Air. Smith, as chairman of the Central School Committee, replied on behalf of the school. Cheers for the society and also for the visitors concluded a very interesting ceremony.
