Great changes are taking place in transatlantic travel. New construction to replace the liners sunk by the 11boats is taking the form of a standard vessel of about 20,000 tons,'with a combination of passenger and cargo-carrying capacity. No new leviathans of the type of the, torpedoed White Star liner Britannic, of 48,000 tons gross register, and the Canard liner Lusitania, 32,000 tons, class are being built to replace the lost tonnage.
