A certified copy of the. Amir’s orders to tho commander of the Afghan eastern army, and presumably to_ other commanders, states: “According to information i eceived from the Government of India fighting has occurred owing to some misunderstanding. The Indian Government, therefore, is orde"ing its commander to suspend hostilities and the door of communication is opened.

“As wo had no intension of fighting with this old friend of ours, and were obliged to take offensive measures, now that he also desires peace we order and command you to keep back jour regular troops and tribes for whom wc are, responsible and await further orders.”

The letter adds: “You should, however, keep in view defensive 'and often sivo operations while awaiting tho .result of the discussion between the Indian and the Afghan Governments.”

The order is dated Mav 27.—Router

The enemy force near Tahl were- again bombed and machine-gunned by airmen. No Afghan troops now remain east of Kurran River.—Reuter.
