By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright

LONDON, June 2

Australia, in their second innings, have lost two for 250—Kellaway 87, Taylor (not out) 85.

A CURIOUS POINT,

LONDON, May 22

An incident, believed to be unprecedented, occurred during the Somer-sot-Sussex county match at Taunton. Somerset’completed both innings, and Sussex had nine wickets down in the second innings, the scores being level. Tho eleventh man was previously injured, and had not contemplated batting, but, after some delay, hastened to the field in plain clothes. The captains were willing to continue, but the umpire (Street, a Surrey professional) applied rule 46 and drew stumps. The question arose whether Sussex had lost tho match under the two-minute rule, or whether the game ended in a tie. The other umpire refused to give a decision, and the result was officiallv recorded as a tie.

The Marylebono Committee announces that, as the Somerset captain lc<t the decision to the umpires, and they decided to draw stumps, the committee approves of their decision.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
