STATE CONTROL QUESTION
LONDON, May 9. Air. Justice Sankey, chairman of the Coal Commission, described as exceedingly important the evidence of Air. Al'Lauchlan, a noted mining engineer, who suggested State-controlled and collective production, aiming at the fullest development of resources, and preserving the advantages of industrial enterprise and competition. The Prussian Government’s coalfields at Saarbrucken lost heavily, but the Westphajliian ’ privately-owned mines gave huge profits, better conditions of employment, and cheaper coal.
