WATERSIDE WORKERS WAGES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 1. It ie anounced that the industrial position in New Zealand has been eased by the settlement of the dispute between the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Federation and the Shipping Companies. The Federation has decided to accept ih eemployers’ offer of an increase in wages on ordinary time amounting to 2d. per hour, and 3d. per hour overtime, both to apply to all classes of work. The effect of the increase is to increase the wages of waterside workers from Is lOd to 2s per hour.

ROBBERY ON illß NIAGARA. AUCKLAND, June 1. A robbery occurred on board the Niagara about 8 p.m. on Saturday, when clothing and other articles to the value of £3OO were taken from a saloon cabin. On being reported to detectives at 9 p.m., they searched the vessel until 2 a.in. without results. While further search was being made this morning one of the articles, a fur coat valued at £l2O was found floating near the vessel, as though it had been pushed through a port-hole. No other articles have been found.
