THE NAPIER GAOL FATALITY. Per Press Association. NAPIER, May 31. At the inquest on the prisoner Peat, who died in the hospital, the medical evidence was to the effect that prisoner suffered from basal meningitis, which is not infectious, not eerebro spinal meningitis, and that until tho disease was far advanced it was difficult to diagnose it. Deceased was in an advanced stage of the disease when ad-mitted-to the hospital. A verdict of death from basal meningitis was returned.
