THE READING PROBLEM

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 29. The question of providing a better reading system iff the Dominion was discussed at the .Farmers’ Union Conference to-day," when the following remits were carried(l) That the union, in conjunction with the Good Roads Association, should take immediate steps to urge upon the Government the necessity for taking control of arterial roads and to thoroughly investigate the Victorian system of road management, with a view to securing the bettor administration of public money than in tho past : (2) that the Government he asked, to liberally subsidise all tho main arterial roads pending investigation of the Victorian system.
