INGLEWOOD.
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. March 3. —Included in the list of those who qualified for Senior Free Place at the recent examinations were the following Inglewood pupils of the Stratford District High School: Flo. Roberts, Betty Nutting, Kathleen Horner, Nellie Wilson, Stanley'Wilson, Clarence Nicholls. On Saturday the Kaimata annual Sunday School picnic was held at Mr. S. Death’s farm. The weather was all that could be desired, and there was a good attendance. The usual games, etc., were played, and there was a bountiful supply of good' things to cat. During the afternoon the Rev. E. L. Harvie distributed the prizes. In a short speech he referred to the good work done by Miss Death in the Sunday School and in playing for the church services. He mentioned that the Death family were leaving Kaimata, and wished them health and prosperity in their new home. On Sunday, March 16, the New Plymouth Band is to give a recital in the Recreation Grounds, Inglewood, weather permitting. The rainfall for Inglewood for February, as recorded by Mr. F. H. Brown, Vtas 3.48 inches. Bain fell on six days. In February, 1918, the rainfall was 6.29 inches, and rain fell on 13 days. Miss Vera Julian left for Eltham this morning to take up her new duties in the borough office there. Miss Riordan, who was so seriously ill with pneumonic influenza, has quite recovered now, and resumed teaching at the Inglewood School to-day. Mrs. Burnip, who underwent a serious operation last week at New Plymouth ,is_ reported to be progressing satisfactorily.
