FROM OCTR OWN CORRESPONDENT. Sept. 13. : —The Returned Soldiers’ Ball took place last night in the Town Hall and was a great success. Capital music was supplied by Bliss Curd’s orchestra, aslsted in the first half by Blessrs. 81. Sutherland and W. H. Humphrey. The Ladies’ Patriotic League had charge of the supper arrangements as usual, and had a busy time for a few hours. Bliss Brown and Bliss Peggy Brown were responsible for tho floral decorations in the supper-room, which wore very, effective. Blessrs. Chapman and F. Codd were Bl.’sC. I have been asked to convey the hearty thanks of the. Returned Soldiers’ Committee to the ladies who worked so hard for them. . His-Worship the. Mayor, who is in S Wellington on business in connection jth the borough loan for electric light extension, etc., has- sent word that he has been successful in <bis mission. A wedding of considerable local interest took place at Tariki on Wednesday, when Bliss Ruth Laurence was married to Blr. Geofge Kilsby, a young returned soldier. Tho ceremony was performed- by the Rev. E. L Harvio of Inglewood, in St, Philip’s Church, Tariki, which was beautifully decorated foi Ij lo occasion. A reception was held in the Teriki Hall afterwards. The youim couple s new home is to be at Toko. “ The annual meeting of the Inglewood Tennis and Croquet Club is to 'be held in the Parish Hail next Wednesday. On _ 1 Imrsday next the Senior Cadets are giving a euchre party and dance in die Town Hall for the Red Cross Fund
