The Wiiangamonioua County Council’s proposals for thirds accrued to March 31, 1918, amounting to £143 5s OJ, were approved. .Murray Urquhart, lessee of section 23, Claudon Settlement, block 16. Hniroa S.D., was granted 12 months’ further exemption from residence on account of military service. The Commissioner of Crown Lands submitted schedules of defaulting Crown tenants in the matter of rental payments. giving the names of lessees, the amount and particulars of rent overdue at date, and asked the direction of the board in (.be mutter of recovery of the accounts in question.—Resolved to circularise the tenants in question, requesting payment, within one month from date, otherwise further steps will he taken for recovery, and in the ease of n few defaulters., to warn them that unless payment- is made that, leases will he forfeited and the rental arrears sued for. The Public Trustee forwarded copies of awards of the arbitrators for renewal of West Coast Settlement Reserve liaises in respect of lot A and lot B, sub-sec-tion 5, block 7, Opunako S.D. (Xgatiinnrongo Block), held by Hugh M'Caiui.— Received and adopted. The county clerk, 'Wiiangamonioua County Council, forwarded proposals for expenditure of accrued thirds, £76’ 6s (kl, metalling Whangamomona Road. — Approved, subject to Crown Lands Ranger certifying. The licensee of section (J, block 3, Piopiotea West S.D., area 127 acres, applied for a remission of rent. —Resolved that recommendation be made to grant, an exemption of rent for a period of two years, commencing from July I, 1918. GENERAL, Four mortgages, aggregating £2360, wore approved, subject to current rates. Two applications under section 2 (c) of the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Amendment Act, 19.17, for financial as-' sistanoo to erect dwelling houses, wore adjourned. Two applications under section 2 (d) of the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Amendment Act, 1917, for financial assistance to redeem mortgages wore refused. Advances to four returned soldier selectors under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act, aggregating £IOBO, were recommended for approval to the Minister for Lands. Five applications from Crown tenants : for rental postponements were recommended for approval of the Minister.

An application for reconsideration of a rental remission application of a Crown tenant on active service was brought before, the board, and it was decided to adhere to the previous decision and grant no remission. Mr. George Grey, solicitor, applied for the board’s consent to application lor sub-lease with compulsory purchasing clause, from Messrs. J. A., T. J., and A. M’Eldowney to J, C. Davidson and C. P. Ryan, of O.R.P. section 13, block 13, section 14, block 13, section 12. block 13, L.P. section 8, block 13, Mimi S.D., and O.K.P section 11. block 13, Maro, Minn S.D., total area 1887 acres 2 roods 28 perches.—Adjourned.
