SCENIC RESERVES BOARD.

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of tho Scenic Roserves'Bnard was held at tho Lands Office on Monday, there being present: Messrs. 0. H. Bullard (Commissioner) in the chair, S. Percy Smith amUR. W. Davies. Mr. Collis wrote apologising for unavoidable absence. Correspondence was road from the Under-Secretary for Lands, advising that the board’s suggestion in regard to inserting a special clause in all scenic reserve licenses with respect to the compulsory clearing of noxious weeds on the land, had been adopted, and would be embodied in the new forms about to be printed. Ratapihipihi.—lt was decided that the matter of the erection of further fencing on tho eastern boundary would bo considered at the next quarterly meeting. Mr. Davies reported that the cutting of further tracks through tho reserve was now completed, and that the grass mowing on the open parts of tho reserve, recently planted with wattle trees, was well in hand.

Meeting of the Waters Reserve. —The honorary caretaker (Mr. Henry Kihg) reported that certain fencing buried by silt /on the reserve had been restored, payment for which was authorised by the board. Mr'. Smith pointed out that some local body was removing metal from the bed of the stream, the property-of the board, and the chairman was authorised to investigate, with a view to collecting a royalty on same. Puketi Pa' Reserve. —On the motion of Mr Smith, it was decided to fence in and plant in suitable native trees about a quarter of an aero of the reserve, m a suitable position, the detailed arrangements being left in the chairman’s hands, in conjunction with tho mover. In view of the annual meeting of the board in April next falling on St. George’s Day, when tho public offices woulil he closed, it was resolved to hold a special meeting for the purpose a neck earlier, viz., on April ICi Accounts. —On the motioij of the chairman the following accounts were passed for payment: Cement 1 ipe Company (concrete posts), £2 15s; Henry King (fencing labour), £1 10s.
