A SCOTCH FAIR.

AT ST. ANDREW’S HALL. St. Andrew’s Hall presented a very bright and gay appearance this afternoon, when a Scotch fair arranged by the Ladies’ Guild was opened by the Mayores (Mrs. C. H. Burgess). The building has been very tastefully decorated with flags, bunting and foliage, etc., whilst the various stalls, too, havi> been treated in an artistic manner by the ladies in charge. The object of the 'fair is to raise funds on behalf of the church. For some little time the guild, under the presidency of Mrs. Blundell, has been preparing for the function, with the result that the stalls arc well stocked with goods, which should command a ready sale, so much so in fact that there should be no difficulty in realising the £SO aimed at, irrespective of the concert which takes place this evening, and which will no doubt attract a very large audience. The stallholders are as follows: Plain work.—Mesdames Brown (convenor), Austin, Smith and Dolby. Fancy work.—Mesdames Sinclair and Cox. Produce.—Mesdames Bruce (convenor), Ogle, Young, Fulton and Evans. Flowers.—Mesdames Alexander and Watts. Afternoon tea. —Mesdames Corney, M’Whirter, Simcock and A. Smart. The fair was well attended during the afternoon and good business was done. After non tea is being served in a large room adjoining the hall and here, too. the same tasteful effort has been realised, the table decorations being verv pretty, whilst the foliage, etc., about the walls adds to the general effect. The concert, which is to be held this evening, commences at 7.30. A particularly bright programme of Scotch songs and dances, etc., has been arranged, so a delightful “twa, ’oors at hame wi’ th’ Presbyterians” is assured.
