STREET IMPROVEMENTS.

SDB-OOMMITTEE’S REPORT. The Streets Sub-Committee submitted the following report to the Borough Council on Monday evening:— (a) That the borough engineer be authorised to proceed with the following works:—Dawson Street, Powderham Street to Devon Street, scarifying, etc., a.xl tarring 12ft., £l2O 4s lid; Dawson Street, Powderham Street to Fulford Street, tarring, £63 ISs: Powderham Street, Currie Street to Brougham Street, tan4.rg 12ft., £39 12s; Powderham Street, Brougham Street to Robe Street, tarring and reforming, etc., £B6 6s 9d; Powderham Street, Silver Street to Dawson Street, tarring, £45 18s; Wallace Place, Standish Hill to Tukapa Road, tarring 12ft., £132; Liardot Street, Devon Street to Courtenay Street, titvring, £l2O 19s 6d.—Total, £6OB 19s 2d. (h) That of the above the cost of the work authorised in Powderham Street, amounting to £l7l 16s 9d, be charged to the £42.000 loan and the cost of the other work to the general account. (c) That application be made to the Minister of Interna! Affairs for permission to use the unexpended balance of the £6OOO loan in the following works: Avenue Road, £757 2s; Carrington Road. £505 8s: Eliot. Street, tarring, £224 8s; Frankley Road, £794 10s; Tnkana Road, £587 6s 6d.—Total, £2869 4s 6d. (d) That in, the event of the Minister approving the above works the necessary special order be passed authorising the work to bo done. , The report was adopter!.
