CATTLE FAIR.
GOOD SALE AT PAHIATUA. Tho Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-oporatiyo Association reports on tnoir cattle fair held in their Mangahao yards as tallows;—Wo offered a large yarding of all descriptions of cattlo to a very representative attendance of buyers Horn all parts of tho North Island. A number of well-grown bullocks came tarward from Mnkuri, Ngnturi and Tnno districts and elicited keen competition. A Tine of twenty 3 and 4-year Hereford Shorthorn cross bullocks bred by and offered on account of Mr. A. H. Ttaggard wore favourably commented on by a number of critics and realised tho satisfactory figure of £lB ss. A pen of fat and' forward 4 and 5-year bullocks, sold on account of Mrs. Stewart, topped the market, reaching the satisfactory figure of £lB 12s Od. The Balfour Estate 3-year old Shorthorn steers. 40 in number, were sold to Messrs. Burling Bros., at tho satisfactory figure of £l7. A nice pen of thirty 4-ycar Polled Angus steers, ox “Cbelscfield” (M. Casclborg), made £l7 10s, 16 fat and forward steers on account of Mr. J. Y. Crawford, realised £l7 10s, 14 Polled Angus steers on account of Mr. J. Y. Crawford made £l7. On account of A. M'Kay 18 fat and forward bullocks £l7 17s 6d. on account of H. Miller, Ng.atnri, 29 4-year Polled Angus steers £l6 17s; on account of A. D. Egliuton, twentv-two 4 and 5-ycar steers £l6 19s 6d. - The demand for low-con-ditioned 3 and 4-year cattle was not keen, but vendors met the market, and a. large number of this class, of cattlo went to tho Wanganui district at prjees ranging from £ll 10s to £ll. There was a keen inquiry for female rattle, a nice line of forty 3-year old Hereford cross heifers offered on account of Mr. J. T. Kotlowski. realised £l4 16s; these went to the Hnnterville district. Another small line of twenty 2-year Hereford heifers made £l3 IGs. The competition for dairy yearling steers and heifers was not keen a number of these went home unsold. Out of a total yarding of 27,50. wo sold 1920 head, which considering the easier tendency of tho market, must, he considered highly satisfactory. Prices ranged as follow:—4 and 5-year bollocks £l6 19s 6d to £lB 12s 6d. 3 and 4-ycar steers £ls 10s to £lB ss, 3-year steers (good) £ls to £l7. 3-year steers (coloured) £ll 10s to £l4 ; 2-year steers £lO 10s to £ls 10r. yearling steers £8 10s to £ll ss, dairy yearling steers £5 5s to £9 7s 6d. 3-ycar Hereford heifers £l3 16s to £l4 16s. 2-year do. £l3 10s, dairy yearling heifers £4 to £7, dairy wenners £3 3s. fat cows £ll 10s to £l3 15s. Hereford cows with calves at foot £l7 ss, forward cows £9 10s to £ll 10s store cows £6 5s to £7 15s. cows and calves £6 10s ta £l2 10s, Shorthorn IvdK- £l6 16s to 33 guineas. Hereford bull 21 guineas.
