AUCKLAND BOOKMAKER
AGAIN HEAVILY FINED. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, August 9. In the Police Court, William Ryan, a bookmaker, was lined £IOO for betting on licensed premises. Mr. Fraser, S.M., said that whore a bookmaker had a reputation for honesty and square dealing he did not believe in imposing imprisonment. Defendant, however, had got to the stage when he must expect to bo fined the maximum every time ho was caught.
