FEOM ODE OWN CORRESPOND BNI. May 5.—A very pretty military wedding of much local interest took place in the Presbyterian Church on Thursday last, when Lieutenant N. G. Sutherland, 26th Reinforcements, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Sutherland, late of Inglewood, but now of Auckland, was married to Miss D. Laing, sixth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ,LaJ°g, pt Inglewood. The bride, attended by Miss L. Laing as bridesmaid, wore a winecoloured coat frock, and carried a white Bible. Mr. W. Huston brother-in-law of the bride, attended the bridegroom as best man, and the service was conducted by Mr. Ireland. After the wedding breakfast, the happy couple left by motor for Wanganui. Lieutenant Sutherland is very well known m this district, having been stationed in the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand for a number of years.

Mr. William A. Dean, a late pupil of the Stratford District High School, has been successful in obtaining an agricultural bursary at the Central Development Farm, Weraroa. Although l nl t a lad, he has already attained to a good practical knowledge of agriculture and dairy work, so much so that he was able to render assistance to the experts in charge of the recent teachers’ classes, acting as instructor for some of tho time. Both Mr. Dean and his alma mater are to be congratulated on his success.

The golf professional, Mr. Lock, has been out here for the past week, giving lessons at the local links, and, as there has been a big influx of new member* this season, he has had his time fully occupied.
