ACCIDENT WITH SULPHURIC ACID. ' ' PUB PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND,' Sepit.7., While waterside workers ' were handling drums of- sulphuric acid, oil* the steamer Monowai to-night, one_ of tho drums hurst at the hung, throwing the acid in a stream for about twenty feet. Five of tho watersidors 1 whowere endeavouring fo avoid the fumes dipped to the deck, as did also a number of others who rushed to their 'assistance. As a result - thirteen. men were burned, by the acid, eighty being now inmates of the hospital, while five wore treated as outpatients. Tho men in the hospital were burned about the body, five seriously. -They unhide Chief-Officer M'Lean, of the Monowai, the remainder being waterside woefcem.
