Complaints are reaching ns of delay in the shipment of goods from Wellington to this port. We can furnish a case in point from our own experience. On November 24 our Wellington merchants advised that “as the New Plymouth steamer was receiving cargo up to noon only on that day our orders had been shut out, but that the order was ready and would com© forward by the first steamer.” To-day, December 11, the goods have not been received into our store, although, w© believe, they arrived yesterday by the Karan. We are willing to make allowance for delays consequent on the dislocation of shipping on account of the war. but it should not take a fortnight and more to bring goods from Wellington to New Ply' mouth.
