RIOUW AT CAPETOWN. Private.advices have been received in ■Wellington stating ibat the A. and A. liner Riouw, which was reported as having a fire in her bunkers, is discharging all her cargo at Capetown. The vessel left New York for New Zealand ports on September 21, and was due at Wellington about the middle of this month. THE DEMAND FOR TONNAGE. After having been condemned, and lying idle at MazatUm since October 20, 1017, the Danish barque Prims Valdemar is to again be placed in commission. The vessel, which made her exit from the active service list of sailers so long ago and was evidently conclus vely regarded as having outlived her usefulness, for her name lias not appeared in any recent issues of the Register of Shipping, has. it appears, been purchased by Ci. W. M'Near. Inc., and will be towed by the steamer Oliver J. Olson from Mazatlan to San Francisco, where repairs will be effected and she will again he made thoroughly seaworthy. It is understood that about tbe same time! as the I’rinz Valdemar was purI chased, G. TV. M'Noar, Jnc., also acquired the line big steel fnnnnastcd barque Dirigio, 3005 tons gross and 2845 tons net register,, from Arthur Sewall and Co. FAMOUS SHIP SUNK. Still another old Australian trader, and a vessel of some renown, has (says a Sydney shipping journal) disappeared from the Shipping Register. The

vessel is the ship Seiieren, which in the olden days was known as the Loch Carron, and was a unit of the famous Loch fleet. When she began what was to be her last voyage—the Clyde to Savannah —and fur some year- before as a matter of fact, she sailed under the Norwegian Ensign. The grand old craft mot her end as a result of a collision, after which she sank near Ton - Mead on the 11th' nil., but beyond the fact that she has gone, no particulars have yet been received.
