FROM ODE OWN CORRESPONDENT. The washing-up meeting of the sports, picnic and dance was hold in the sup-per-room of the hall on Saturday evening, and, from tins balance-sheet, showed\erv satisfactory results. The ladies did well when they received £B2 Is Ofd, and their expenses were only 11s Bd. Following are the details: —Canvassed bv Mrs. Robertson, £lO 6s 6d; Mrs. Wright, £2 life; Mrs. A. Phillips, £lO 10s; Miss Billings, £3 19s; refreshment 'booth. £l2 3s 6d; .Mrs. Robertson’s stall, £ll 11s 8d; soft drink sale in hall, £1 12s Gd; Miss-Clare, pennies in bottles, 4s 3}d; Miss Taylor, guessing peas in bottle, £7; Miss Wright, beaus in bottle. £2 2s'; Miss Wright, maize, £1 Ss; Miss Wright, doll and rosettes, £5 16s; Mr. W. R. Wright, donation for lollies, ss; donation by Mr. T. Fleming and family, £1 ss; sale of flag and sheep, £S 10?; sale of small goods by T. P. Hughson, £1 8s; sale of cake in hall. £7 4s: gross, £B2 Is Old; purchase of goods, Hughson and Sons, 11s Bd. Now we find, when comparing the men’s, work with the ladies’, wo must come to the conclusion that the former lack ability. Their efforts produced;—Gate. £l2 11s 6d; sheep guessing, £4 7s; lamb guessing, £1 5s Gd; stepping the chain. £2 14s; nominations, £5 Is; concert, £1 GlSs; dauce, £2 Is. The expenses were: Flail hire and printing'£l 15s, tickets Is Gd, prize-money £7 19s —total of expenditure £9 los Gd; receipts, £44 17s; making a net total-for the Bel-* gians of £ll6 11s 104 d. The above shows what can be secured in a day in a small township where you have good ladies to work a, committee. A meeting was held after the above to form an ambulance corps, and Sirs. Groom offered to teach the committee, and also thought it would he a very groat help if they could get a medical man to give them a. lecture at intervals, also the district nurse. Mrs. Wright was appointed, and Mr. Hughson as ladies’ help. The subscription was fixed at Is, so as to be Within the reach of all, as Mrs. Groom said that would be ample. The following names were, handed in as members: ,'Mesdames Wright, Hughson. Wilcox, Groom, Green, Parsons, Garcia and Phillips, Miss Wilcox, and Messrs.
