NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW, 1915.

The Winter Show Committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association has adopted a suggestion which ought to greatly increase the interest of small settlers and gardeners. ' A new class' lias been added to the vegetable division which will give the amateur gardener a very good chanc6 of prize-winning as against the big.display which is necessary for iho championship. In this class a well-known competitor and prizewinner lias offered two prizes of 26s and 16s for the best collection and display of 12 varieties of vegetables. This should achieve ,the object of encouraging those who are not professional gardeners, but who’ pride themselves in. growing good edibles in limited varieties. Another class with £lO in prizemoney attached to it is for the best collection and display of the products of any one farm or station holding. A space of eight feet is allowed. If this is taken up thoroughly the exhibits will be a groat acquisition to the show, and will without doubt attract much notice. Potato growers will notice that the classes hitherto listed 71b. of each are now altered to 12 tubers. This will tend to even up the display in this division. There are a number of improvements in the horticultural section, and those interested should obtain a schedule which mar be had free from the secretary. Mr.* W. T. Penny, Box 35, Palmerston North.
