Second-Lieutenant Harold W. Jennings, oldest sou of Mr. W. T. Jennings. M.P. for Tatimaninui, and late of Buenos Ayres, was last month stationed witli the Iloynl Field Artillery, "West Worthing. Sussex. Mr. Christopher, of the firm of Messrs. Robiuson and Christopher, .Stratford and Hawcra, has accepted the position of engineer to Hobson County. Colonel M. W. Tigho has been appointed Major - General __ commanding against tho Germans in East Africa. On Wednesday afternoon Mr A. V. Siohr. on behalf of the staff of Messrs. Maoky, Logan. Caldwell,Ltd., presented Mr. A. K. Blackman with a set of military hair brushes prior to his departure for Troutham to join the reinforcements of the expeditionary force. Mr. Blackman left for Trcmham on Thursday morning. Tim Kaiser has decorated Mr. Houston Stewart Chamberlain with tho noncombatants Iron Gross. Mr. Chamberlain is the son of a British_ Rear-Ad-miral, hut has lived most of his life on the Continent. He married the eldest daughter of Wagner, tho musical composer. and has written a book on Germany in which he takes a v’ory favourable" view of that country.
